30 Day Acuvue Challenge

I was recently contacted by Acuvue and asked if I would like to try their 30 Day Contact Lens challenge. The challenge involves me getting my eyes tested and trying out Acuvue Daily contact lenses instead of my glasses for a while. My eyesight is pretty bad and I like to wear contacts (when I have the time and energy) so I figured I would give it a go to show people just how easy contacts are.

The first part of the challenge involved having my eyes tested and getting the perfect kind of  contact lenses for me. I popped down to Dubai Optical in the Dubai Mall to meet with their experts.

I had my eyesight tested and it turns out that my eyes are doing a tiny bit better than they were when I had them tested last year (yay for little victories! haha) Since I have astigmatism, we chose the 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism contacts.

These contacts are made with Laceron technology, which allows forms a cushion of moisture to keep your eyes comfortable. It's great if you are prone to dry eyes, like I am sometimes. They also have UV protection that blocks up to 87% of UVA radiation and 92% of UVB radiation, which is something you need if you live in Dubai!

I've been wearing contacts for years now, and dailies are definitely my favorite type. They're so easy to use, just pop them in and throw them away at the end of the day - no need to clean them and store them at the end of a long day (or night)

Here are a few tips I was given at my appointment:

1. Always wash your hands before handling your contacts.

2. Put your contacts in before you apply your makeup, that way you won't have to worry about make up smudges on your lenses. You also won't have to worry about watery eyes ruining your makeup.

3. If your eyes get dry, just use a couple drops of lubricating eye drops. I really like Artelac Advance individual drops. They're great because you can just throw them out and they are easy to carry around.

4. If you're new to wearing contact lenses then just practice a few times first. You will soon get the hang of it!

Do you wear contacts? What brand is your favorite?
