Wantable Makeup Box

Wantable Makeup Box

Wantable is a subscription box that is a little bit different. Instead of getting a bunch of sample-sized products to try out, you actually get FULL SIZE products. Granted, at $36-$40 it is a bit more expensive than most subscription boxes, but again, you get a lot more product.

Another cool thing about Wantable is that you can order one box at a time, rather than having to subscribe for a couple of months. So let's say you just want to treat yourself, but aren't sure what to get. Just pop onto the website and choose a box!

You can choose from a beauty box, an accessories box, an intimates box (this is brand new to me!) or one of their limited edition holiday boxes.

How it works:

Just choose the kind of box you want and then choose from a bunch of options relating to your personal taste. You can choose to skip the questions (there are a LOT) but obviously, you get a much more customized box if you answer more questions. Then you just set up an account, pay and you're done!

Would you like to see what was in my Wantable box last month?

Cailyn Pink Kabuki Brush
Cailyn Pink Kabuki Brush
Retailing at $15, this Cailyn kabuki brush is probably the first things my eyes were drawn to when I opened the box. The bristles are super soft and I've been happily using it to apply my MSF powder. It's just so cute!

Face Stockholm Lipstick Pleasant

Pleasant lipstick by Face Stockholm, $22, is described as a 'shimmer marigold'. I'll admit that it probably isn't a color that I would have picked for myself, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be when I applied it. The texture is really nice, it's not so glossy that it totally disappears in five minutes, but it's still pretty hydrating.

Glam Girl Tweezer
Glam Girl Tweezers by Kikkerland
I'm pretty sure that I've seen Glam Girl Tweezers in Dubai before. While they are a bit more 'cutesy' than something I would have picked for myself, they have proven pretty handy. They grab stray hairs really easily and the flat, slanted tip is great for getting rid of the occasional ingrown hair. Not bad for $4!

Micheal marcus nail polish

Michael Marcus Nail Polish - Paint the Town Red
This nail polish is from celebrity makeup artist Michael Marcus' retails for $15 and is free from toulene, formaldehyde, and DBP. I am crazy about the color! It's like a bright red that leans a little bit pink.  The polish texture on the thinner side, so you may want to use 3 coats. I was OK with two coats, but I think it would have looked better if I added an extra one.

Susan Posnick eye duo
Susan Posnick ColorEyeDefine Duo - Amethyst/Opal
This Susan Posnick ColorEyeDefine duo costs $26 and has an eyeliner on one side and shadow on the other. I was really impressed by how soft and smooth the liner was, it's great for smudging. The shadow is really pretty, and it goes on a little sheer, so it's great for wearing during the day or building up for more night-time intensity.

Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme Sample
And just thrown in for good measure, these Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme samples. I got two shadows, Sunrise Peach and Vert Enchante. I haven't used these yet, I really like the green shade and would like to save it for when I actually want to wear it out!

Conclusion? I think beauty boxes are a bit of a hit-and-miss. I love the idea of discovering new brands and getting a whole box of goodies at once, but sometimes you end up with products you aren't super fond of. That said, I did really love some of the products in the Wantable box, so it really isn't such a bad idea.

Total Value of Products: $82
Total Cost of Box: $36 if you subscribe, $40 if you go for a one-time purchase
Saving: $46 - $42

Not too shabby! The bad news is that they currently only ship to the US, Canada and Australia. So if you live outside these countries you will probably have to use a forwarding company. I used Aramex Shop and Ship and received my box within 5 days!

Have you ordered a Wantable box? What are your favorite subscription boxes?

*PR samples. For more information, please read my disclaimer.

  1. How did you receive Aramex Shop, what is that? please explain! sallygrayj@yahoo.com (Im based in Sharjah and I talk about this alot on my pages and blog, but didnt know about Aramex Shop!) www.canadiansassysally.com

  2. Aramex Shop and Ship is a forwarding company. So they give you an address in the US and other countries and then forward everything to you through Aramex. It's pretty cool! shopandship.com :)

  3. I did a beauty swap with a Canadian blogger years ago and she sent me some Lise Watier eyeliners and they rock - if you can get a hold of some I recommend them!

  4. ooh I may have to crack open the samples! I keep reading lots of good things about Lise Watier.
