Benefit Core Color Collection

Benefit recently released a brand new line of makeup, their Core Color Collection. The collection consists of Ultra Plush Lipglosses, Longwear Powder Shadows, Creaseless Cream Shadows and Hydra-smooth Lip Colors and I was sent a few products to try out. Here are my thoughts :)

I love Benefit's usual packaging so it did take me a while to get used to the new packaging. They've gone for a more vintage vibe and it really works because looking at the new packaging really takes me back to Main Street in Disneyland!

The packaging is sturdy, but I still worry about dropping the shadow pots and breaking them. I think Benefit usually does a great job at balancing girlie and fun, but this packaging is a little more girlie and pretty. Maybe a little too pretty?

It's what's on the inside that counts, though, and what's inside these little babies is pretty great!

Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Kiss You

This lipgloss is super slick, almost like vinyl. It doesn't feel sticky or greasy at all, which was really surprising to me, especially considering the high shine factor.  While I wasn't a fan of the color in the tube, it turned into a pretty pink on my lips. Between this lipgloss and the Bourjois lipstick I just reviewed, it would appear that lilac-tinted pinks are high on my list this summer!

Benefit Longwear Powder Shadow in Raincheck
This might be the prettiest purple shadow I have ever seen. It really screams spring and have worn it as a wash of color on my lids with tons of mascara. It makes me feel like I need to put on a pretty sundress.

Benefit Longwear Powder Shadow in Thanks A Latte
This one is gorgeous! It's described as a 'golden brown', but really it's more of a taupe. It is just so perfect. It is quite shimmery, so all  you need is a gentle wash and it brightens up your eyes.

I get about 4 hours of wear from the shadows, without primer. However, my lids get really greasy, so most shadows disappear almost immediately. The lip gloss lasted about an hour before I had something to drink.

I think the color payoff with these products is excellent. You get great pigment with just a swipe of your finger, and you really can't beat that. I did notice that the colors on the website are a tiny bit darker than the colors are in real life, at least for the shadows. Just something to think about if you order them online :)

Have you tried the new Core Color Collection? What do you think of the packaging?
