Review: Philosophy's Purity Made Simple Face Cleanser
Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser, available at Sephora
I've always heard great things about this cleanser, it's often one of the first ones that are recommended when you're looking for a new one.
So, does it live up to the hype?
The cleanser is marketed as a 'one-step cleanser'; meaning you can use it to remove all of your makeup (including eye makeup) as well as deep clean pores and tone your skin. It is made of lots of lovely good-for-your-skin ingredients, like coconut oil, geranium oil and sandalwood oil. I think this mixture of oils is one of the things that really sets it apart from other cleansers, it gives it a beautiful, soothing floral scent.
This is a cream cleanser, which I was surprised to find out. It lathers upon contact with water and rinses well. I love the creamy texture, it feels very luxurious as you massage it onto your skin. It does cleanse your face really well and removes all traces of face makeup.
But it doesn't really do much to remove eye makeup. I've tried applying it straight to my eyelids and also using it with a cotton pad. It doesn't really do much except smudge the makeup around my eyes. I do love it as a face cleanser though, so what I usually do is remove my eye makeup first and then use Purity.
All in all, I'd have to say that this cleanser has made it's way into my daily routine! It would be amazing if it removed eye makeup, but I'm perfectly happy to use two separate products. I even have a small, travel sized bottle that I take with me when I stay out overnight.
Have you tried this cleanser or any other Philosophy products?
